⚡ Exporting Electrical Appliances to the Gulf, Europe & USA

Helping Egyptian manufacturers comply with international standards and export successfully to Saudi Arabia, the GCC, European Union, and the United States.

1️⃣ Gulf Region (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, etc.)

To export electrical appliances to Gulf countries, products must comply with the Gulf Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment (BD-142004-01). Exporters must obtain the G-Mark certificate and register their products on the SABER platform (Saudi Arabia).

  • Obtain tests from an accredited lab (IEC standards).
  • Apply through a Notified Body for the G-Mark.
  • Register product on SABER and issue shipment certificates (SCoC).
  • Label the product with the G-Mark logo and safety information in Arabic & English.

2️⃣ European Union (EU)

Exporting to Europe requires compliance with the CE Marking system. The CE mark confirms that the product meets EU safety, health, and environmental protection standards.

  • Apply relevant EU Directives: Low Voltage (LVD), EMC, RoHS.
  • Conduct tests in an EU-accredited laboratory.
  • Prepare a Technical File with risk assessment and conformity declaration.
  • Affix the CE mark visibly on the product and packaging.

3️⃣ United States (USA)

Electrical appliances exported to the USA must comply with UL, FCC, and EnergyStar standards depending on the product category.

  • Safety testing by UL (Underwriters Laboratories).
  • Electrical and radio compliance by FCC.
  • Energy efficiency certification through EnergyStar for household devices.

Visit UL Official Site →

4️⃣ Key Documents Required

  • Certificate of Conformity (G-Mark / CE / UL)
  • Testing Reports (IEC / EN / ASTM)
  • Manufacturer’s Declaration of Conformity
  • Product Technical File with Photos & Specifications
  • Commercial Invoice & Certificate of Origin

5️⃣ Recommended Certification Bodies

  • Intertek Egypt
  • SGS Egypt
  • TÜV Rheinland Egypt
  • Bureau Veritas Egypt

⚡ Export Certificates — Electrical Appliances

Everything Egyptian manufacturers need to access the Gulf, EU, UK and USA markets: requirements, documents, steps, and direct contacts. Click a certificate below to open the summarized checklist.

🇸🇦 G-Mark (GCC) & SABER (Saudi Arabia)

Scope: Low Voltage Electrical Equipment (LVD) — List 2 products (e.g., refrigerators, washers, heaters, ACs, fans, cables).

What you need

  • Tests to IEC/EN standards from an accredited lab.
  • Technical File (specs, circuits, labels, manuals, risk assessment).
  • G-Mark certificate (via Notified Body) for List-2 items.
  • Register on SABER: PCoC (product) + SCoC (shipment).
  • Arabic & English labels; affix G-Mark logo where applicable.

Useful contacts

🇪🇺 CE Marking (European Union)

Typical directives for appliances: LVD, EMC, RoHS. Some categories may need EcoDesign/Energy Labelling.

Checklist

  • Identify applicable directives & harmonized standards (EN/IEC).
  • Lab tests by EU-recognized labs; compile Technical File + Risk Assessment.
  • EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) signed by manufacturer.
  • Affix CE mark visibly on product/packaging; keep TF & DoC available.

🇺🇸 UL / FCC / Energy Star (United States)

Appliance safety (UL/NRTL), EMC/RF (FCC) and energy efficiency (Energy Star) where applicable.

Checklist

  • UL safety testing by UL or equivalent NRTL.
  • FCC compliance for RF/EMC functions.
  • Energy Star registration for eligible categories.
  • Permanent labels & rating plates per US rules.

🇬🇧 UKCA (United Kingdom)

Post-Brexit marking for Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales). Similar scope to CE (LVD/EMC/RoHS).

Checklist

  • Apply UK designated standards; run tests if needed.
  • UK Declaration of Conformity; Technical File.
  • Affix UKCA; follow UK labeling & importer rules.

♻️ RoHS / REACH (EU/UK Substances)

Restrictions on hazardous substances and chemical registration/communication duties in supply chains.

Checklist

  • Material declarations & supplier statements (lead, Hg, Cd, Cr6+, PBB, PBDE, phthalates).
  • Lab screening (XRF/GC-MS) where necessary.
  • REACH SVHC communication (if present) & documentation.

🏭 ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 (Management Systems)

Not a product mark; boosts factory credibility and may be requested by buyers and retailers.

Recommended

  • ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (OH&S).
  • Gap assessment → documentation → internal audit → certification audit.

❓ Quick FAQ

Is G-Mark the same as ISO?

No. G-Mark is a product conformity mark for GCC; ISO is a management system for factories.

Do I always need a Notified Body?

Only for higher-risk (List-2) categories in GCC. Many CE categories allow self-declaration if standards are met.

Can Morgeana manage the process?

Yes — we connect you to accredited labs, prepare technical files, and handle SABER/CE/UL submissions end-to-end.
