Nahra Association has played a pivotal role in restoring and developing the Virgin Mary Tree site in Matariya, one of the most significant stops on the Holy Family Trail. Their work included comprehensive renovations (2021–2022) in coordination with Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities — replacing stones, reinforcing structures, upgrading pathways, and adding protective lighting. Nahra also enhanced visitor amenities by installing pergolas, benches, shelters, signage, and infrastructure such as restrooms and kiosks. Beyond physical restoration, the association launched cultural outreach with a visitor center, documentary content, and heritage-themed murals. Partnering with UNESCO, Nahra contributed to the restoration of the Abu Serga Cave Church and Maadi Church crypt. Today, the site combines heritage preservation, visitor experience, and community empowerment — making Nahra a model of sustainable cultural revival in Egypt.
