Led by Ashraf Al-Orabi, founder of Paulownia Egypt, the country’s first large-scale Paulownia forest was established on the Cairo–Kremat road in Giza. Covering nearly 100 feddans, the plantation aims to provide fast-growing hardwood for Egypt’s furniture and wood industries, while also serving as a natural carbon sink to combat climate change.
Paulownia trees are among the fastest-growing in the world. They absorb high levels of CO₂ and release oxygen, making them a sustainable solution for both wood production and climate change mitigation.
